Anycast DNS

How it works

Montec Hosting has our DNS servers are located in various geographic locations, including the US, Europe, Asia and of course locally in Australia. We utilise Anycast on all our cloud DNS servers, which is included on all our cloud hosting and domain manager services.

anycast

When a user enters a website address into a web browser, the DNS server resolves the IP address from the domain name, loading the website content for the user. Visitors physically distant from the DNS server may experience slow load times, hence the introduction of the Anycast DNS network; to speed-up this process and to ensure faster load times of your website.

Anycast is a routing and IP address policy to achieve the most efficient path between a single source and several geographically dispersed targets. Anycast DNS allows multiple, identical, global DNS servers using the same IP address with handling and routing the request to the closest location. This means that when a user looks up your domain name, the server nearest to their geographic location will load your website, decreasing latency and improving load times.

Features and benefits
